Chief Justice Jo Hee-de's assets came to 1.8 billion won. Among senior judges, the person with the most assets was Daegu Family Court President Lim Hae-ji, with 38.8 billion won.
According to the "2026 regular asset change report for public officials" released by the Supreme Court on the 26th, Chief Justice Jo reported assets of 1.8217 billion won. An apartment in Jeongja-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi, owned by the spouse, accounted for the largest share at 1.099 billion won.
Chief Justice Jo sold a multi-family house in Macheon-dong, Songpa-gu, in which Jo and the spouse each held 50% equity. At the same time, Jo and the spouse purchased an apartment in Haengdang-dong, Seongdong-gu, for a total of 600 million won. The equity share is 50% each. Chief Justice Jo also reported 1.05 billion won in building lease debt.
Excluding the chief justice, the average assets of the 13 Supreme Court justices (including former Justice Roh Tae-ak) stood at 4.63 billion won. Justice Lee Suk-yeon (24.32 billion won), Justice Seo Kyung-hwan (7.97 billion won), and Justice Shin Suk-hee (4.77 billion won) had the most assets in that order. Justice Chun Dae-yup had the fewest assets at 320 million won.
The average assets of the 136 senior judges subject to disclosure came to 4.44961 billion won. That was up 574.41 million won from a year earlier. The Supreme Court said increases in officially assessed prices of dwellings and land, higher stock valuations, and inheritances were the reasons.
Eight senior judges had assets exceeding 10 billion won. The senior judge whose assets grew the most over the year was Seoul High Court Presiding Judge Lee Sang-joo. The increase was 2.77 billion won, driven by salary savings, financial and rental income, and the spouse's inheritance.
Kim Jae-ho, president of the Chuncheon District Court and the spouse of People Power Party lawmaker Na Kyung-won, saw an increase of 1.58 billion won.
