The average assets of senior police officials at the rank of senior superintendent general and above, who are subject to asset disclosure, were tallied at about 1.5 billion won.
According to the asset disclosure announcement for public officials by the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee on the 26th, the average assets of 41 senior police officials at the rank of senior superintendent general and above were 1,529.23 million won. That was down by about 300 million won from the 1,814.75 million won average for the 39 officials subject to disclosure last year.
Acting Korean National Police Agency Commissioner Yoo Jae-sung reported a total of 582.22 million won, including a multi-family housing unit in Mapo District, Seoul, under a spouse's name and deposits.
Korean National Police Agency National Office of Investigation (NOI) Commissioner Park Sung-joo reported 2,198.4 million won in assets, including an apartment in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, and deposits.
Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner Park Jung-bo held 1,542.88 million won in assets, including an apartment, a commercial unit, and a vehicle in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
The highest declarant was former Korean National Police Agency Investigation Planning and Coordination Officer Yoon Seung-young, whose assets, including an apartment and four multi-family dwellings in Seocho District, Seoul, under his name and deposits, totaled 6,172.86 million won. Yoon, a former coordinator, was suspended from duty after being indicted on charges of involvement in operating arrest teams during the Dec. 3 martial law emergency. He was acquitted at first instance last month.
Next among senior police with large assets were Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency Commissioner Hwang Chang-seon with 4,448.68 million won and Korean National Police Agency Criminal Investigation Bureau Director Baek Dong-heum with 2,906.62 million won.
Korean National Police Agency Investigation Bureau Director Hong Seok-gi reported the smallest assets at 29.31 million won.
