Popular mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang (legal name Park Jeong-won) had a college classmate who falsely tipped off a "meok-to," or eating and then vomiting, allegation receive a fine.
According to legal sources on the 20th, the Criminal Division 3 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office summarily indicted a person surnamed Oh on the 2nd of last month on a 7 million won fine for defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
Oh, who is a college classmate of Tzuyang, is accused of falsely tipping off the YouTuber "Jujak Gambyulsa" in Nov. 2020, saying, "On the day Tzuyang did a giant pasta mukbang, I witnessed traces of pasta she had vomited."
The tip was made public through Jujak Gambyulsa's YouTube broadcast in Jul. 2024.
In response, Tzuyang's agency filed a complaint against Oh with the Seoul Hyehwa Police Station. Prosecutors received the case in Dec. 2024 and have conducted a supplementary investigation.
The YouTuber Jujak Gambyulsa, who was accused of extorting tens of millions of won by threatening Tzuyang with "I will expose your private life," currently has a finalized sentence of one year in prison, suspended for three years.
