The identity of suspect Kim Hoon, 44, who killed a woman in her 20s he had been stalking in Namyangju, Gyeonggi, has been released.
The Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency released Kim Hoon's name, age and driver's license photo on the 19th after a review by the committee on disclosing personal information. Considering that Kim is receiving treatment at a hospital, the police used the driver's license photo instead of a mugshot.
Police said the committee on disclosing personal information decided to release the suspect's identity in the public interest because the means of the crime were brutal, serious harm occurred, and there is sufficient evidence to prove the crime.
Kim Hoon is accused of killing a woman in her 20s, identified as A, with whom he previously had a relationship, on a street in Onam-eup, Namyangju, at about 8:58 a.m. on the 14th. Kim fled after the crime but was apprehended in about an hour.
At the time of arrest, Kim Hoon had ingested drugs and has been treated at a hospital from immediately after his arrest to the present. A detention warrant was issued on the 17th.
