The joint police-prosecution investigation headquarters currently investigating allegations of collusion between the Unification Church and the state (Deputy Minister Kim Tae-hoon, Daejeon High Prosecutors' Office chief) will summon Rep. Chun Jae-soo of the Democratic Party of Korea for questioning.
According to the legal community on the 18th, the joint investigation headquarters plans to summon the former lawmaker at 10 a.m. on the 19th for questioning as a suspect.
The former lawmaker is suspected of receiving 20 million won in cash and a luxury watch worth about 10 million won from the Unification Church side in return for promoting projects such as the Korea-Japan undersea tunnel construction.
The former lawmaker earlier said of the allegation, "It is completely groundless, and there was, I say unequivocally, no illegal exchange of money or valuables."
That afternoon, the joint investigation headquarters summoned the former lawmaker's spouse, a person surnamed Choi, as a reference for questioning.
