Service on express trains on Seoul Subway Line 9 was suspended for about two hours on the 17th due to a signal failure. All trains are now running normally.
According to Seoul Metro Line9, from about 10:22 a.m. a signal equipment failure led to only all-stop local trains operating across the entire section (Gimpo Int'l Airport–Jungang Veterans Hospital), stopping at every station.
The signal failure was temporarily restored at 11:17 a.m. that day. Starting at 12:17 p.m., express trains began to be deployed sequentially, beginning with Gimpo Int'l Airport Station. From 1:21 p.m., express service also resumed at Jungang Veterans Hospital Station.
Express trains are currently operating normally in both directions on the up and down lines.
Line 9 officials are identifying the specific cause of the malfunction.
Line 9 also experienced train delays due to signal failures in February, July and October last year.
