A woman's body was found near a pier at Hangang Park in Seoul, and police opened an investigation but reached a tentative conclusion that there were no signs of a crime.
The Seongdong Police Station in Seoul said on the 16th that one woman's body was found near the government vessel pier at Ttukseom Hangang Park on the north end of Yeongdong Bridge and that they are currently investigating.
Police and fire authorities retrieved the body after responding at about 11:29 a.m. to a passerby's report that "something that looked like a human figure is floating in the Han River."
At the time of discovery, the body was already in a state of decomposition. However, a police official said there were no signs of a crime and noted, "We will handle it according to procedures for an unexplained death case."
