North Korea fired an unidentified projectile into the East Sea on the 14th, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said.
According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), around 1:20 p.m. that day, more than 10 ballistic missiles were launched from around Sunan in North Korea toward the East Sea.
It was the first time in 47 days that North Korea launched ballistic missiles into the East Sea. Earlier, on Jan. 27, North Korea fired ballistic missiles into the East Sea. It is also the third provocation this year. South Korea and the United States are conducting combined drills from the 9th to the 19th.
The military plans to strengthen surveillance and vigilance in preparation for additional launches by North Korea. It will also maintain readiness while sharing information on North Korea's ballistic missiles with the United States and Japan.
Japan's Defense Ministry assessed that the missiles North Korea launched that day may have been ballistic missiles. According to Kyodo News and NHK, the ministry announced that an object that could be a ballistic missile was launched from North Korea that day and appears to have already fallen.
