The National Fire Agency said on the 13th that, after evaluating 247 119 rescue teams nationwide, it selected the Cheongju Fire Station 119 Rescue Team in North Chungcheong as the "strongest rescue team of the year."
The strongest rescue team system was first introduced in 2023 to establish a rescue response foundation that the public can trust. Based on 14 items across five areas, including "rescue worker safety management," the top rescue team in each city and province is selected, and then one final team is chosen through a selection committee of outside experts.
The National Fire Agency awarded a certificate and a nameplate for the strongest rescue team to the Cheongju Seobu Fire Station 119 Rescue Team. It also grants benefits such as extra points for special promotions and priority recommendations for overseas training to the affiliated rescue workers.
Acting National Fire Agency Commissioner Kim Seung-ryong said, "We will continue to provide unwavering support to instill pride in the rescue workers who are dedicated and hardworking, and to demonstrate higher reliability in rescue responses to the public."
