YouTuber Gujaeyeok (real name Lee June-hee), who was put on trial on charges of threatening YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jeong-won) and extorting money, received a finalized prison sentence at the Supreme Court.
On the 12th, the Supreme Court dismissed Gujaeyeok's appeal on charges including extortion and finalized the lower court's sentence of three years in prison. YouTuber Jujak Gambyulsa (Jeon Guk-jin), who was indicted as an accomplice, received a finalized sentence of one year in prison suspended for three years.
In 2023, Gujaeyeok threatened to expose Tzuyang's private life and extorted 55 million won, leading to indictment.
In the first trial, Gujaeyeok was sentenced to three years in prison. The court said, "The amount extorted from the victim is not small, and restitution has not been made," and noted, "Even after the case became known, there were claims to the effect that it was to help Tzuyang, and there was no remorse shown in court."
Gujaeyeok appealed, but the second trial also sentenced three years in prison.
Gujaeyeok's liability was also recognized in a civil suit conducted separately from the criminal case. In Oct. last year, the court ruled in a damages suit filed by Tzuyang against Gujaeyeok and Jujak Gambyulsa, saying, "Gujaeyeok shall pay 75 million won to Tzuyang." Of that, 50 million won was ordered to be paid jointly with Jujak Gambyulsa.
Gujaeyeok's side said Tzuyang's side repeatedly filed false accusations and, in Jan., filed a complaint against Tzuyang and agency officials on charges of false accusation.
