Actor Lee Jae-ryong, 61, who is suspected of drunk driving, hitting a median strip and fleeing, has appeared before police for questioning.
According to police, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul called in Lee Jae-ryong as a suspect from about 2 p.m. on the 10th on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act and is under investigation.
Lee Jae-ryong is suspected of driving near Cheongdam Station on Subway Line 7 in Gangnam District, Seoul, at about 11 p.m. on the 6th, crashing into a median strip and fleeing. There were no casualties in the crash, but the median strip was damaged.
After the crash, Lee Jae-ryong parked the car at home and stayed at an acquaintance's house before being caught by police at about 2 a.m. on the 7th, roughly three hours later. A breath test at the time reportedly showed a blood alcohol concentration at license suspension level (0.03% or higher).
Lee Jae-ryong initially claimed to have drunk at an acquaintance's house, but later admitted the allegation, saying he had four shots of soju before getting behind the wheel.
This is not Lee Jae-ryong's first drunk driving case. In 2003, he was booked on suspicion of causing a drunk driving crash and refusing a breath test, and his license was revoked. In 2019, he damaged a bowling alley signboard while intoxicated and received a suspension of indictment.
