Police will soon summon actor Lee Jae-ryong, 62, who is under suspicion of drunken driving, for questioning.
Park Jeong-bo, chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, said at a regular press briefing on the morning of the 9th, "He is under a pre-booking inquiry (internal probe), and it appears he will soon comply with a summons."
Lee is accused of driving drunk and crashing into a median strip near Samseong Jungang Station in Gangnam District, Seoul, at about 11:05 p.m. on the 6th, then leaving the scene.
After the crash, Lee parked at home, went to an acquaintance's house, and was caught by police at about 2 a.m. on the 7th, roughly three hours later. At the time, Lee's blood alcohol level was reportedly at a license-suspension level.
However, Lee reportedly told police that he had not been drinking when he was driving and only drank after arriving at an acquaintance's home. He claims he did not drive under the influence.
Regarding this, Park said, "We are checking," adding, "The facts will come out once we investigate."
