Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon on the 6th said, "I could not find an appropriate word for an entity that has reversed good and evil other than 'vicious special counsel,'" adding, "Special Counsel Min Joong-ki must explain to the public why the office closed its eyes to a fraudster but put only the victims of that crime on trial."
Oh posted a message titled "Questions for Special Counsel Min Joong-ki" on social media (SNS) on the morning of the same day and said this.
Oh said, "The Kim Keon-hee special counsel act clearly specifies as the target of investigation 'the alleged illegal and false opinion polls by Myung Tae-gyun and others,'" adding, "According to Kang Hye-kyung's court testimony, Myung Tae-gyun's group would, when election season came, approach prospective candidates and push manipulated opinion polls as a sales lure. Fabricating numbers and landing work was their typical sales tactic."
He then said, "They approached the Oh Se-hoon campaign with the same tactic, but we spotted it early and firmly repelled it," adding, "This is the essence of the case."
Oh also said, "The special counsel's office already had evidence of Myung Tae-gyun's group manipulating opinion polls in its hands. The remaining issue was simple," adding, "Whether Kang Hye-kyung acted on Myung Tae-gyun's orders or carried it out alone—this could have been clarified through investigation."
He went on, "But what did the special counsel do? It made the worst decision of indicting the victim who detected and repelled the manipulated opinion poll."
Oh said, "In Dec. 2024, I personally filed a complaint against Myung Tae-gyun's group for fraud and attempted fraud," adding, "But the special counsel did not even touch the perpetrator, Myung Tae-gyun's group, and in the end handed the case over to police and washed its hands of it. Is it because Kang Hye-kyung and Kim Tae-yeol are whistleblowers for the Democratic Party?"
He continued, "In court, Kang Hye-kyung said, 'I admitted I fabricated it and even said I would accept punishment. I never said this was justified,'" adding, "That is a confession. There is already a trove of evidence collected by prosecutors. They also have records of punishment for similar conduct. Yet the perpetrators were left untouched, and only the victims were put on trial."
Oh said, "Special Counsel Min Joong-ki must explain to the public why the office closed its eyes to fraudsters but put only the victims of that crime on trial," adding, "Before power changes and accountability is imposed, reveal the truth voluntarily."
