From now on, on KakaoTalk, you can hide posts from friends you find burdensome and don't want to see in your feed without blocking them.
Kakao on the 6th updated the app, adding a feature in KakaoTalk's "Friends tab" news feed that lets users hide posts from specific friends without blocking them.
Unlike before, when you had to hide or block a specific friend to prevent their posts from appearing in the news feed, this update lets you keep the friendship while adjusting only the feed exposure. Users can select "Hide post" from the "More" menu at the top right of a friend's post to prevent that friend's posts from appearing in the feed.
You can change or cancel the hide-post setting at any time. Go to "Friends" in the settings menu and change it under "Manage hidden friends" to see the feed again.
Also, call recording, previously available only in Voice Talk, can now be recorded for up to 30 minutes in one-on-one Face Talk (video calls). After the call ends, the artificial intelligence (AI) "Kanana" also offers a feature that summarizes the conversation.
Open Chat now allows notification settings by comment thread. Users can set notifications by comment thread as they wish, such as turning off new-reply alerts for threads they participated in or turning on alerts for threads they did not participate in.
In addition, a Discover tab has been newly added to the emoji keyboard, allowing users to view at a glance the free emojis offered every Monday, recommended emojis, and real-time popularity rankings. The Talk Cloud home screen has also been revamped to strengthen photo and file browsing, so you can check recently sent and received photos, files, and L.I.N.C directly from the home screen.
A Kakao official said, "We are enhancing convenience features so users can use KakaoTalk more efficiently and comfortably," adding, "We will continue to listen to user feedback and keep improving the service."
