Lee & Ko (represented by Managing Partner Kim Sang-gon) said it has hired attorney Shin Sang-rok, who held key posts at the Financial Services Commission.
Shin will join Lee & Ko's finance group and handle regulatory advice, administrative responses, and investigation and litigation for financial institutions, Fintech corporations, insurers, and asset managers.
Shin graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in public administration, earned a master's from Hanyang University Graduate School, and completed the 35th Judicial Research and Training Institute. Shin then worked at the National Tax Appeals Commission of the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the Tax Tribunal of the Prime Minister's Office, and from 2012 served for about 14 years at the Financial Services Commission and its affiliates.
At the Financial Services Commission, Shin served as head of the Capital Markets Investigation Coordination Division, head of the Financial Data Policy Division, head of the System Operations Division at the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit, and chief of the Deliberation Support Team. Shin also worked in the Insurance Division and the Financial Dispute Response Team. Shin has experience handling international disputes, including the Lone Star investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) case.
Lee & Ko said Shin will oversee regulatory risk response work for the financial sector, drawing on experience in both financial regulation practice and policy.
