Korean civil society groups condemned the United States and Israel's airstrikes on Iran and called for an end to the war.
The Trump Condemnation International People's Action Organizing Committee, which brings together 40 groups, and the International People's Assembly held a press conference at 2 p.m. on the 3rd across from the U.S. Embassy in Jongno District, Seoul, and stated accordingly.
They held placards reading "hands off Iran, stop the attack on Iran immediately" and "strongly condemn Trump for the war of aggression against Iran," and chanted slogans, saying, "We condemn the United States and Israel's invasion of Iran to dominate the Middle East."
The groups said, "The United States and Israel's attack on Iran is a clear violation of international law and a barbaric act of war," and added, "With oil prices soaring, the global economic crisis will deepen, and the damage will ultimately lead directly to the collapse of people's livelihoods."
The groups continued, "At least about 200 people have died in Iran and about 700 have been injured, and reports of more civilian casualties keep coming in," and said, "Not only key Iranian leaders but also civilians are being massacred; these acts of war must stop immediately."
They read a statement criticizing the United States and Iran. They then held a performance offering condolences to the girl elementary school students in Hormozgan Province, Iran, who were killed or injured by U.S. and Israeli missile strikes on the first day of the air raids, on the 28th of last month, which left hundreds dead and wounded.
