On the 2nd, which is a substitute holiday and a Monday, rain or snow will fall nationwide. With a heavy snow advisory issued for the Gangwon mountains, heavy snow will pour down in parts of northeastern Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and the northeastern inland and northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang.
Through the 3rd, expected snowfall is 10–30 cm in the Gangwon mountains, with more than 40 cm in some areas. The northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang are forecast to receive 10–20 cm, with more than 30 cm in some areas. The Gangwon inland and the northern Gangwon east coast will see 3–10 cm, with more than 15 cm in the northern Gangwon inland and the northern Gangwon east coast. The central Gangwon east coast and the northeastern inland of North Gyeongsang will see 3–8 cm, and northern Gyeonggi and southeastern Gyeonggi are expected to get 2–7 cm of snow.
Through the 3rd, expected precipitation is 20–60 mm in Jeju, with more than 70 mm in the mountains. Gwangju–South Jeolla, Busan–Ulsan–South Gyeongsang, and the east coast and northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang will see 10–40 mm; the Gangwon east coast and mountains 10–50 mm; North Jeolla 5–30 mm; and Daejeon–Sejong–South Chungcheong, North Chungcheong, Daegu–North Gyeongsang inland, and Ulleungdo–Dokdo 5–20 mm.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said visibility will drop sharply in areas with snowfall and many roads will become icy as accumulated snow freezes, and urged caution to prevent accidents. It also said that heavy snow could collapse livestock sheds, vinyl greenhouses, and weak structures, so facilities should be protected. It added that vehicles could become stranded and that people should check traffic conditions in advance.
The daytime high is forecast at 4–12 C. As of 5 a.m., temperatures in major areas are 6.7 C in Seoul, 7.5 C in Suwon, 7 C in Incheon, 5.3 C in Chuncheon and Gangneung, 8.1 C in Cheongju, 7.7 C in Daejeon, 6.3 C in Jeonju, 5.8 C in Gwangju, 10.6 C in Jeju, 7.7 C in Daegu, 9.1 C in Busan, 8.3 C in Ulsan, and 8.7 C in Changwon.
Fine dust levels will be at a "good" level nationwide due to the inflow of clean easterly air and the effects of precipitation.
Waves will run 1.0–3.5 m on the East Sea offing, 0.5–3.5 m on the South Sea offing, and 0.5–2.5 m on the West Sea offing. Far offshore, wave heights are expected to be 1.0–3.5 m in the East Sea, 0.5–3.5 m in the South Sea, and 0.5–2.5 m in the West Sea.
