A fire that broke out at a neighborhood living facility in Bundang District, Seongnam, on the 28th was completely extinguished after about 3 hours and 30 minutes.
According to fire authorities, at about 8:49 a.m. a fire occurred at a neighborhood living facility in Baekhyeon-dong, Bundang District, Seongnam. After receiving a report from a related party that said, "A fire broke out during exterior wall panel work," firefighters, concerned about possible casualties, issued Response Level 1 and deployed 40 pieces of equipment and 99 personnel to carry out suppression efforts.
Response Level 1 was lifted at about 10:54 a.m., and the main flames were brought under control at about 11:12 a.m. After mopping up remaining embers, the fire was fully extinguished at 12:06 p.m.
The building has three basement levels and seven stories above ground, and is understood to house an orthopedic clinic, retail stores and offices. There were no casualties, and a total of 84 people, including 44 patients, evacuated.
Police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
