From now on, new types of children's play spaces such as unmanned kids' pools and unmanned kids' cafés will also be subject to safety management obligations. These facilities have not been included under the Children's Play Facilities Act as subjects of safety management until now.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety said on the 27th that an amendment to the Children's Play Facilities Act designating new types of children's play facilities as subjects of safety management was promulgated.
Under the law, business operators who install unmanned kids' pools and similar facilities must report to the supervisory authority, and the managing entity must designate a safety manager and is required to purchase accident liability insurance to compensate for damages in the event of a safety accident.
In addition, to prevent safety accidents, they must conduct a "safety assessment" at least once a month to identify, inspect, and improve risk factors (drowning, falls, collisions, etc.).
Yoon Ho-jung, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), said, "This law revision aims to eliminate blind spots in the safety of new types of children's play spaces in line with the diversifying play environment," adding, "The government will continue to supplement related laws and systems so that children can play safely anywhere."
