A driver who was behind the wheel of a Porsche after taking drugs and plunged off Banpo Bridge stood at a crossroads of detention on the 27th.
According to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, the Seoul Western District Court will hold a pretrial detention hearing (warrant review) at 10:30 a.m. for A, a woman in her 30s accused of drugged driving under the Road Traffic Act.
At about 8:44 p.m. on the 25th, A was driving a Porsche SUV on Banpo Bridge when the vehicle broke through the guardrail and fell to the Han River riverside near Jamsu Bridge, causing bruises.
During the fall, the Porsche also crashed onto another car driving nearby. A man in his 40s who was driving a Mercedes also suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.
At about 12:40 a.m. the previous night, police found a large quantity of propofol injections, sedative anesthetics, disposable syringes, and other items in the Porsche and urgently arrested A. After investigating the circumstances of the crash and whether drugs were used, police sought an arrest warrant.
In a police interview, A admitted the charges, saying the person had taken drugs and driven.
Police found a large quantity of empty propofol vials, disposable syringes filled with drugs, and medical tubes in A's car and are investigating whether there was an illegal prescription.
