Busan City said on the 27th that it will hold a "Southeast radiation medical and science general industrial complex completion ceremony" at the Southeast radiation medical and science general industrial complex in Jangan-eup, Gijang County.
About 200 people, including Mayor Park Heong-joon, National Assembly member Jeong Dong-man, Gijang County Chief Jeong Jong-bok, city council members, and local residents, will attend the ceremony.
The Southeast radiation medical and science general industrial complex is an advanced cluster that converges radiation research, medicine, and industry on a total area of 1,478,729 square meters (about 447,316 pyeong). It was created 16 years after the launch of the basic and detailed design services in 2010.
The city is building and developing ▲ a new research reactor for export ▲ a heavy ion therapy center ▲ the Southeast Nuclear Medicine Institute ▲ a fusion research infrastructure for radioisotopes ▲ a power semiconductor commercialization center within the industrial complex. Related corporations are also moving in. Through this, the city said it expects growth engines across the regional industry to be expanded and sustained vitality to be added to the local economy.
Mayor Park Heong-joon said, "The Southeast radiation medical and science general industrial complex will grow into a world-class advanced industry cluster for radiation medicine and science and a future industrial base for power semiconductors," adding, "We will do our best to leap forward as a 'global hub city that is good for corporations.'"
