Busan City said on the 26th it will hold the "150th anniversary of the opening of Busan Port" ceremony at the Busan Port International Convention Center.
The event is expected to be attended by Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon, National Assembly member Cho Seung-hwan, Acting Minister Kim Seong-beom of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and Busan Port Authority (BPA) President Song Sang-geun.
The event was prepared to look back on the 150-year history of Busan Port and to prepare for a leap forward as a global hub city for the future marine industry. From the 26th to the 27th, the following will be held: ▲ 150th anniversary ceremony of the opening of the port ▲ 2nd eco-friendly Arctic route forum ▲ academic symposium for the 150th anniversary of the opening of Busan Port.
Mayor Park Heong-joon said, "Busan Port has been a port of survival that protected Korea for 150 years and a port of opportunity that helped grow Korea into a top-10 global economy," adding, "We will develop it into a global port leading the future maritime order and strengthen the stature of Busan as a global maritime hub city."
