As the social media (SNS) account of a person in their 20s surnamed Kim, a suspect in the "Gangbuk motel serial murder case," sparked controversy over the leaking of personal information, it was switched to private.
Kim's Instagram account appears to have changed from public to private on the 25th in the afternoon. This came two weeks after Kim was urgently arrested and six days after being sent to the prosecution under detention.
The number of followers on Kim's account kept increasing after media reports and reached about 11,000 as of the afternoon. Compared to 240 on the 19th, it increased roughly 45-fold. Many visitors appear to have identified Kim's personal information online and found the account.
Police secured a mobile phone at the time of Kim's arrest on the 11th and completed forensics. Based on the forensic data obtained, police are investigating the men Kim contacted by text or SNS messenger.
Police are now looking into indications that around mid last month Kim gave a drink laced with drugs to a man in his 30s, identified as A, causing loss of consciousness, and have launched a preliminary inquiry before booking.
A reportedly told police recently that at the time, at a karaoke in Gangbuk District, after drinking a hangover remedy handed to him by Kim, he lost consciousness for a while, then woke up and received emergency treatment from fire authorities.
However, police are cautious about determining whether there is a victim. A police official said, "It is difficult to confirm details as it is under investigation," adding, "We will get to the bottom of whether there are additional victims."
