Jeon Han-gil, a hardline conservative YouTuber and former Korean history instructor, publicly mentioned Choi Si-won, a member of the group Super Junior and an actor, and sent him a love call, drawing attention as Choi posted Bible verses one after another.
On the 23rd, Choi Si-won posted a Bible verse on social media: "Now all has been heard; fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13." A day earlier, on the 22nd, he also posted 1 Chronicles 16:11.
Earlier, on the 19th, when former President Yoon Suk-yeol was sentenced to life imprisonment in the first trial on charges of being the ringleader of a rebellion related to the Dec. 3 martial law, Choi posted the four-character idioms "불의필망(不義必亡), 토붕와해(土崩瓦解)." They mean that the unjust will surely perish and that the foundation will crumble, and some interpreted this as expressing a critical view of the verdict.
Then on the 22nd, YouTuber Jeon Han-gil, a former Korean history instructor, urged support from the conservative camp for Choi on his channel, saying, "An entertainer with a sensible and sincere, fiery soul," and "We should support such an entertainer so that he can establish himself as a representative entertainer of Korea." He also asked Choi, "Please be sure to come to the 'Freedom Concert' of 10,000 people."
Last September, Choi also posted a tribute to the late Charlie Kirk, a U.S. conservative political activist. After controversy arose, he deleted the post and said, "Regardless of political leanings, I only mourned because my heart ached over the tragedy experienced as the head of a family and as a Christian."
Meanwhile, SM Entertainment warned, "We are continuously securing evidence regarding acts of creating and spreading false information about our affiliated artists on online communities and platforms, and acts of posting mocking or contemptuous writings, and after reviewing the relevant posts, we plan to gradually expand the process of filing complaints."
