Group BTS warned of scam crimes ahead of ticketing for its free comeback concert to be held at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul.
Park Jeong-bo, chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, said at a regular press briefing on the 23rd that "we are continuously monitoring crimes that could arise in relation to ticket sales."
Police asked for the deletion or blocking of 34 posts that raised concerns about fraud damage and the theft of personal information. Several posts appeared on online communities and social media (SNS) offering to book tickets on behalf of others for 10,000 won.
Park said, "To make a proxy purchase, you have to hand over personal information, and in that process, there is a possibility of personal information being stolen or misused," adding, "It cannot be ruled out that the goal is to obtain personal information rather than the amount of the fee."
He added, "According to the organizer, proxy purchases are fundamentally impossible, and because IDs are checked, resales are also not allowed," noting, "In most cases, such offers are likely related to fraud crimes, so citizens need to be cautious."
BTS will hold "BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG" for about an hour from 8 p.m. on the 21st of next month in the area around Gwanghwamun Square. Ticketing will begin at 8 p.m. that day on NOL Ticket.
Police said they would do their best to manage the crowd, with as many as 260,000 people expected to gather on the day of the concert.
