The bereaved family of a man in his 50s who died while battling cancer donated all of the deceased's assets to Chungbuk National University Hospital (CBNUH) in accordance with his wishes.
According to Chungbuk National University Hospital on the 19th, the bereaved family of the late Yun In-su, 56, who lived in Cheongju, visited the hospital the previous day and delivered 540 million won from the deceased's estate as a donation.
Yun was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer in Apr. 2024 and died on Nov. 18 last year after a prolonged battle.
The deceased, the youngest of six siblings, worked as an auto repair technician and a painter after graduating from elementary school due to difficult family circumstances. It is said that Yon saved more than 500 million won over a lifetime of frugality. Unmarried, Yon reportedly lived alone in a small studio apartment and led a frugal life.
After being diagnosed with stomach cancer and up until the end, Yun reportedly expressed to his older sister, Hyeon Ja, several times his wish to return his assets to society.
Chungbuk National University Hospital (CBNUH) plans to use the donated funds as a development fund to build treatment infrastructure for patients and improve the quality of local medical services.
