South Chungcheong Province said on the 20th that it appointed Hong Jong-wan, former head of the Social Disaster Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, as the 39th vice governor for administrative affairs.
Hong, the new vice governor, received his letter of appointment from Kim Tae-heum, governor of South Chungcheong Province, at the provincial government reception room that day and began his official duties. Born in Cheonan, Hong graduated from Bukil High School in Cheonan and Sogang University. He entered public service in 1998 through the third provincial civil service exam.
From 1998 to 2002, Hong worked in Seocheon County, then served at the province for 4 years and 8 months starting in January 2002. He later held posts at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) including head of the Social Disaster Response Policy Division, civil defense policy officer, and head of the Social Disaster Office.
