A woman in her 30s who roamed the streets at midnight with a BB pellet rifle and threatened strangers was arrested by police.
On the 20th, Siheung Police Station in Gyeonggi said it arrested A as a quasi-flagran offender on suspicion of special intimidation and is investigating.
Around 1:10 a.m. that day in the Jeongwang-dong area of Siheung, A allegedly walked around carrying a 85-centimeter-long BB pellet rifle and threatened others, including by aiming it at B, a man in his 30s who was sitting in a parked car.
A and B did not know each other, and A is believed to have pointed the gun at B for a few seconds before leaving the scene without any further action.
Responding to a report, police traced movements using closed-circuit (CC)TV and arrested A at a nearby home around 1:40 a.m. the same day.
A was intoxicated at the time of the offense and, even after being taken into custody, repeatedly gave statements that were hard to understand, such as, "I did it because it seemed like it would be fun."
Police are investigating the specific circumstances of the crime involving A while also reviewing an emergency admission measure for A. They are also looking into the specifications and acquisition route of the BB pellet rifle A possessed.
