Busan city said on the 19th that the building permit for the Royal Russell Busan campus construction project in the United Kingdom has been completed.
The Royal Russell Busan campus will be created as a global education space that reflects the educational philosophy and core elements of the British private school Royal Russell School's main campus, which has a tradition of about 170 years. With a total floor area of 19,286㎡ (about 5,834 pyeong), six educational facilities will be built, including a classroom building, an administrative management building, a multipurpose auditorium, and a swimming pool. It is planned to be established as a space accommodating 1,350 students in kindergarten, elementary, and middle school programs.
The establishment of this campus is one of the pledges of the 8th popularly elected administration. The city assessed that it had laid the foundation for attracting the "first foreign educational institution in the southeastern region." It also expected to contribute to revitalizing foreign investment attraction by expanding the global education environment and improving settlement conditions for foreigners.
Park Heong-joon, the Busan mayor, said, "The Royal Russell Busan campus will strengthen the educational environment and settlement base for attracting foreign investment and will be an important asset in enhancing Busan's global competitiveness," adding, "We will continue to work closely with related organizations to do our best to build Busan into a global hub city with a world-class educational environment."
