On the 15th, the second day of the Lunar New Year holiday and a Sunday, nationwide temperatures will be milder than average. Dense fog is forecast mainly in western regions, so caution is needed for traffic safety on homebound and return trips.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, until 10 a.m. dense fog with visibility under 200 meters is expected mainly in Incheon, Gyeonggi Province, the southern inland of Gangwon, the Chungcheong region, North Jeolla, the West Sea coast of South Jeolla, and the western inland of South Gyeongsang. Visibility in other areas is also expected to shorten to under 1 km.
There may be light drizzle around rivers, lakes, and valleys due to the fog.
Dense fog could significantly disrupt flight operations at airports. Passengers should make sure to check flight information in advance.
Temperatures will be a morning low of -2 to 7 degrees and an afternoon high of 6 to 19 degrees, higher than the average (morning -8 to 2 degrees, afternoon 4 to 10 degrees).
In the Gyeongsang region, the temperature gap between day and night will widen to around 15 degrees, so extra care is needed for health management.
Dry weather advisories are in effect for the east, including the east coast and mountainous areas of Gangwon, the east coast of North Gyeongsang, Busan, and Ulsan. Even small sparks can lead to large fires, so visitors to ancestral graves and others engaged in outdoor activities should use fire with caution.
Due to stagnant air, fine dust levels will reach "bad" in most regions nationwide except South Jeolla and Jeju.
Waves will run 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East and South Seas' nearshore waters and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the West Sea's nearshore waters. In the inner offshore waters, waves in the West Sea are expected to reach as high as 3.5 meters.
