As broadcaster Choi Dong-seok is in divorce litigation with his wife, Park Ji-yoon, he filed an appeal against a first-instance dismissal related to the countersuit over an affair.
According to legal sources on the 13th, Choi filed a notice of appeal the previous day against the dismissal ruling in his claim for consolation money in damages for an affair filed against Park Ji-yoon and Mr. B.
Choi Dong-seok and Park Ji-yoon married in 2009 and have one son and one daughter, but after announcing their split in Oct. 2023, they proceeded with divorce. During the litigation, they filed suits against each other over an affair. On the 27th on the previous month, the Jeju District Court Family Litigation Single-Judge Division 2 did not accept either side's claims, concluding the first trial.
In July 2024, Park Ji-yoon filed an affair suit against Choi Dong-seok's acquaintance, Ms. A, and in September of the same year, Choi filed a countersuit claiming the marriage broke down due to Park's misconduct. After the related details became known, each side denied the allegations, saying, "There was nothing illegal," and "There was no misconduct with anyone other than my spouse."
Meanwhile, appearing on TV CHOSUN's variety show "Now I'm Alone," Choi said, "The other party filed a lawsuit due to a misunderstanding about my acquaintance, and although I thought it wasn't appropriate, I filed the complaint on my lawyer's advice," adding, "I don't want to take this to the end. I want to withdraw the lawsuit quickly."
