Assistant Deputy Director Kim Seon-tae ("Chungju Man"), head of the New Media Team who ran Chungju City, North Chungcheong's official YouTube channel "Chung TV," is resigning.
On the 13th, Chungju City said Kim, an Assistant Deputy Director, submitted a resignation letter to the personnel department and has been using vacation time since the day before.
The city is processing the matter according to procedures now that Kim, an Assistant Deputy Director, has submitted a resignation letter. It said the resignation has not yet been accepted. The reason Kim decided to leave and the specific date of departure were not disclosed.
Kim, an Assistant Deputy Director, handled production and operation of Chungju City's YouTube content. Working as "Chungju Man," Kim gained popularity with inventive videos. Thanks to that, the city's official YouTube channel has more than 970,000 subscribers. This has been cited as an example that spurred change in public institution PR methods.
Recognized for these results, Kim, an Assistant Deputy Director, was promoted at a rapid pace. Joining in Oct. 2016, Kim was promoted to grade-6 Assistant Deputy Director in seven years and then, a year later, became Head of Team for the New Media Team.
Earlier, Kim, an Assistant Deputy Director, said Kim would retire if Chungju City's YouTube subscribers surpassed 1 million. Asked in Oct. last year whether Kim wanted to retract the retirement pledge, Kim said, "My desire to retire has not changed," adding, "So if you don't want to see me, please hit subscribe quickly. Fast subscriptions are the only way to live."
