A teenager accused of attempting to kill a mother and her two daughters at an apartment in Wonju, Gangwon, has been referred to prosecutors while in custody.
Wonju Police said on the 13th that they arrested and referred A, 16, on charges of attempted murder.
According to police, around 9:12 a.m. that day, A is accused of wielding a weapon to kill B, a woman in her 40s, and her two daughters C and D, both teenagers, at an apartment in Dangu-dong, Wonju.
In the incident, B suffered a severe neck injury, and C and D were also wounded on their arms and shoulders and were taken to a hospital. The victims underwent surgery and are now recovering, according to reports.
Police responded to a neighbor's report and arrested A in the act after finding the suspect hiding in a flower bed near the apartment.
The investigation found that A entered the building using a shared entrance password known in advance, waited in front of the victims' home, and went inside when B stepped out the door.
In a police interview, A reportedly said, in effect, that "C embarrassed and ignored me at the academy." Police also confirmed that A and C were former classmates who attended the same middle school.
