The Criminal Agreement Division 27 of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Woo In-seong) on the 11th granted a stay of execution of detention for President Han Hak-ja, who faces allegations of collusion between the Yoon Suk-yeol administration and the Unification Church. The stay runs until 2 p.m. on the 21st. Han's side on the 4th requested that she be tried without detention due to worsening health.
During the stay of execution of detention, the court restricted Han's residence to a hospital and limited contact to hospital medical staff, attorneys, and people who assist with mobility and meals. During the stay, she must not contact anyone who has appeared or is scheduled to appear as a witness, and she must appear when summoned.
Han was also released for three days in November last year on a stay of execution of detention and received treatment at a hospital. At the time, Han's side requested an extension of the stay, but it was not granted.
Han is accused of making split donations totaling 144 million won from Unification Church group funds to lawmakers, including those belonging to the People Power Party, from April to July 2022. She is also accused of being involved in a solicitation by delivering a necklace and a Chanel bag to first lady Kim Keon-hee through Geonjin (Jeon Seong-bae).
