In the area of Gangbuk District, Seoul, men were found dead one after another at lodging businesses. Police urgently arrested a woman in her 20s, identified as A, who handed a mysterious beverage to the deceased men.
One man who accepted a beverage from A and barely survived reportedly told police that "A and I were dating."
The Gangbuk Police Station in Seoul said on the 11th that it urgently arrested the suspect, a woman in her 20s identified as A, on the 10th on suspicion of injury resulting in death, and that it plans to apply for an arrest warrant after investigating A's motive.
According to police, on the 9th, A is suspected of causing the death of a man in his 20s by making him drink a beverage containing an unknown drug at a lodging business in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk District. A entered the lodging business with the victim on the afternoon of the 9th and left the building alone about two hours later. A and the victim reportedly met for the first time on the day of the incident.
After receiving a report the next day, police found the body of a man on the bed in a room at the lodging business. Police confirmed that A is a suspect not only in the incident on the 9th but also in another recent unexplained death case.
Late last month, police had also been investigating after finding a man who died after drinking a beverage containing drugs at another lodging business in Gangbuk District.
In addition to the two cases, police believe A is also responsible for one injury case in which a man was rendered unconscious using the same method. The victim in that case drank a beverage handed over by the suspect, lost consciousness, and only woke up two days later to report the damage to police. The person reportedly told police that he was A's boyfriend.
The beverage A handed to the men was reportedly loaded with large amounts of psychoactive pharmaceutical ingredients.
Police believe A intended to kill the men and are considering applying a murder charge. A will also undergo a psychopathy test.
