The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will directly investigate the complaint cases related to former lawmaker Lee Hye-hoon, who was dropped as the Ministry of Planning and Budget Minister nominee.
According to police and others on the 10th, the Bangbae Police Station in Seoul transferred all eight complaint cases involving the former lawmaker that it had handled to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Financial Crime Investigation Unit.
The former lawmaker was accused of falsely listing her already married eldest son as an unmarried dependent child to win a lottery for an apartment subscription in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul. Allegations were also raised of staff verbal abuse and power harassment, preferential military service for the second and third sons, preferential admission for the eldest son to Yonsei University, real estate speculation on Yeongjongdo, and evasion of gift tax.
The former lawmaker denied and explained some allegations at the National Assembly confirmation hearing, but President Lee Jae-myung withdrew the nomination for Ministry of Planning and Budget Minister on the 25th of last month.
