In Jeongeup, North Jeolla, police are checking the facts after a report that a teenage son threatened his mother with a weapon.
Jeongeup Police Station said on the 6th that it is investigating a teenage boy, identified only as A, on suspicion of assaulting an ascendant. A is accused of shouting and shoving his mother, a woman in her 40s identified as B, and threatening her with a weapon at their home in Jeongeup at about 11:40 p.m. the previous day.
At the time, B reportedly called 112 and said, "My son hit me." Police assessed the situation at the scene and, judging the risk to be high, arrested A in the act.
During a police interview, A reportedly said, "I got angry because my mother checked my phone, so I did it."
A police official said, "It was confirmed that B was not seriously injured," adding, "After separating A to a youth protection facility, we are investigating the specific circumstances and motive for the crime."
