At Severance Hospital in Sinchon-dong, Seodaemun District, Seoul, employees showed suspected food poisoning symptoms after eating meals, prompting health authorities to launch an epidemiological investigation.
According to the Seodaemun Public Health Center on the 5th, a report was filed on the 2nd that Severance Hospital employees showed symptoms such as nausea and diarrhea. The number of symptomatic cases identified so far is estimated at around 10. Most said they began showing suspected symptoms around the 29th and 30th of last month.
Health authorities have been conducting on-site inspections since the 3rd. They also collected specimens from cooking utensils at the staff cafeteria in the comprehensive building and asked the Seoul Institute of Health and Environment to analyze them.
An official at the Seoul Institute of Health and Environment said, "The analysis results are expected to be available within 7 to 10 days," and noted, "We are trying to wrap up before the Lunar New Year holiday."
The site where the suspected food poisoning was reported was the staff cafeteria, which is different from the restaurants used by patients or visitors.
