A teenager who tried to kill a mother and her two daughters in an apartment because they had ignored the teen was arrested by police.
The Wonju Police Station in Gangwon said on the 5th that it arrested a 16-year-old boy, identified as A, on the spot on suspicion of attempted murder and is investigating. A is accused of attempting to kill a woman in her 40s, identified as B, and her two teenage daughters, identified as C and D, by brandishing a knife he had prepared in advance at an apartment in Dangu-dong, Wonju, at about 9:12 a.m. that day.
In the incident, B suffered a serious injury to the neck, and the two daughters also sustained wounds to their arms and shoulders and were taken to a hospital. All three, however, were reported to be out of life-threatening danger.
Police responded to a neighbor's report and arrested A at the scene as the teen hid in a flower bed near the apartment. Investigators believe A entered the building by punching in a lobby door passcode the teen knew, waited in front of the victims' home, and then forced their way inside when B opened the door.
During questioning, A said that C, who attended the same middle school, had embarrassed and ignored the teen at a cram school. Police are further investigating the precise motive and preparation process and plan to seek an arrest warrant that night.
