Busan City said on the 4th that it will appoint former National Information Resources Service Daegu Center head Kim Gyeong-deok to the post of administrative vice mayor on the 5th. The administrative vice mayor's post had been vacant as of Dec. 15 last year.
After graduating from Busan High School Affiliated with the College of Education and Busan National University, the new Vice Mayor Kim entered public service through the 36th Higher Civil Service Examination. In Busan City, Kim served as director of international cooperation, director of maritime policy, Inspector General, director of social welfare, deputy head of Yeonje District, budget director, and head of the Citizens' Safety Office. Kim later moved to head the Daegu Center for national information resources in September 2024, and will return to Busan city administration with this vice mayor appointment.
A city official said, "We expect the new vice mayor from the region to play a key role in securing stability and continuity in city administration, based on extensive experience in municipal affairs and a strong understanding of internal administration."
