Experts are analyzing the cause of death of the late Xu Xiyuan, also known as Seo Hee-won, who worked as a Taiwanese actor and singer.
On the 3rd, KBS2's "Secret of the celebrity soldier" will cover the wedding process of Koo Jun-yeob and Seo Hee-won, as well as how a health issue that arose during a trip rapidly deteriorated into a severe condition. Seo began with a mild fever during a trip to Japan in Feb. last year, progressed to sepsis within a few days, and died on the fifth day of the trip.
For the commentary, Lee Nak-jun, an otolaryngologist and original author of the drama "Severe trauma center," explains from a medical perspective why pneumonia may have posed a particular danger to Seo. Based on the facts that Seo suffered from mitral valve prolapse, a congenital heart disease, and had a history of coma due to preeclampsia during childbirth, the program examines what chain reactions underlying conditions can trigger in an infectious situation.
Marking the first anniversary of the death, the production team also visited Jinbaoshan in Taiwan, where Seo is laid to rest. Even on a day of heavy rain, Koo Jun-yeob visited the grave and was quoted as saying, "Hui-won is lying there in far greater hardship than I am, so how could I not come?"
Meanwhile, Seo won great popularity playing the female lead "Shan Cai" in the drama "Meteor Garden," based on the 2001 Japanese manga "Boys Over Flowers." She married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011, divorced in 2021, and remarried in 2022 to Koo Jun-yeob.
