The fire that broke out at the SPC Samlip Shiwa Plant in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung, Gyeonggi, was brought under initial control in about four hours.
According to the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters and the Siheung Police Station on the 3rd, a fire occurred at about 2:59 p.m. at the production facility of the SPC Samlip Shiwa Plant in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung. Of the 12 day-shift workers who were working in the building, three were transported after inhaling smoke, while the others evacuated on their own.
Seven minutes after the report was received, at about 3:06 p.m., fire authorities issued Response Level 1 and deployed 57 pieces of equipment and 135 personnel to carry out firefighting operations. The fire broke out in Building R of the Shiwa Plant, which houses both an automated logistics warehouse and a food production line. At the time, workers were reportedly dispersed between the first and second floors with logistics equipment and the third floor with a bread production line.
Fire authorities are investigating the cause of the fire based on statements that it started on an upper floor. The building was not equipped with its own sprinkler system and only had an indoor fire hydrant system, according to initial findings. Police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the scale of the damage once the blaze is fully extinguished.
