A fire broke out at 2:59 p.m. on the 3rd at the SPC Samlip Shihwa plant in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung, Gyeonggi.
At 3:06 p.m. that day, fire authorities issued "response level 1" and deployed 57 pieces of firefighting equipment, including pump trucks, and 135 personnel to fight the blaze. Four firefighting helicopters and unmanned firefighting robots were also dispatched.
As of 3:50 p.m. that day, three factory workers who inhaled smoke were taken to a hospital. They are a woman in her 40s and two men in their 20s and 50s. The other nine workers also evacuated. No casualties have been confirmed so far.
The fire reportedly started on a line producing bread on the third floor of the four-story plant. Fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire once it is extinguished.
At around 3:16 p.m. that day, the Siheung city government sent a disaster safety alert text, saying, "A large amount of black smoke is occurring due to a factory fire," and asked, "Drivers should take detours, and nearby residents should keep their windows closed."
