On the 31st, the first weekend after the People Power Party expelled former leader Han Dong-hoon, Han's supporters held a large rally in Yeouido, Seoul, and demanded that party leadership including Jang Dong-hyeok step down.
Participants at the rally chanted slogans such as "Expulsion is useless, Han Dong-hoon will rise again," "Let's oust Jang Dong-hyeok," and "Yoon again, get lost."
Former Supreme Council member Kim Jong-hyeok, who took the stage, said, "At the moment on the 29th when Han's expulsion was finalized, the party we loved, the People Power Party, died and returned as the 'Yoon again party,'" and added, "Jang Dong-hyeok, who carried out an unprecedented political massacre in constitutional history, must resign."
Conservative commentator Cho Gab-je, head of Joins.com, said, "Those who make a living peddling conspiracy theories about a fraudulent election should be sent to prison." When Ham Un-gyeong, the party chapter head for Mapo-eul in Seoul, led with "Jang Dong-hyeok is," participants shouted, "Step down."
The organizers estimated about 100,000 people attended the rally. Earlier, before the rally, the organizers notified police that about 6,000 people would attend.
After the rally, participants marched around Yeouido holding placards reading "We will protect the true conservative, Han Dong-hoon" and "Jang Dong-hyeok, who carried out an unjust disciplinary action, be prepared."
Han did not attend the rally. But on the fan platform "Hancut," Han left comments such as "Thank you," "Glad the weather is less cold," and "I will make a good country with good politics." Han is scheduled to hold a talk concert at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium on the 8th of next month.
