A fire at a factory in Eumseong County, North Chungcheong, spread to a nearby factory, prompting the National Fire Agency to issue "response level 2." Response level 2 calls for mobilizing personnel and equipment from nearby fire stations in addition to the jurisdictional station.
According to the National Fire Agency and Eumseong County Office on the 30th, a report came in at about 2:56 p.m. that a fire had broken out at a factory in Doseong-ri, Maengdong-myeon. The site produces wet wipes and diapers. The fire spread to a nearby circuit breaker manufacturer.
The National Fire Agency has deployed six helicopters, 56 firefighting units, and 105 firefighters to extinguish the blaze.
Immediately after the fire, 81 of the 83 employees working at the factory evacuated, but a worker in their 20s of Nepalese nationality and a worker in their 50s of Uzbek nationality have not been reached.
Embers spread to a nearby hillside, causing a forest fire. However, it was fully extinguished at about 4:10 p.m. Eumseong County sent text messages guiding nearby residents to evacuate in case of additional damage.
Starting at 3:50 p.m., the National Fire Agency has been holding a situation assessment meeting chaired by the acting commissioner.
