The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials launched a raid over allegations that People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun received video content free of charge from a private public relations firm.
The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) Investigation Division 1 (headed by Director General Na Chang-su) said on the 29th it was conducting searches and seizures of the office of PR firm A and the office of Incheon Metropolitan City district council member B in connection with allegations that Yoon illicitly received political funds.
The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) is looking into allegations that A provided Yoon in 2023–2024 with PR videos and other content produced free of charge. B was found to have served as the link introducing Yoon to A. The CIO is said to assess the value of the PR videos provided for free at tens of millions of won.
The Political Funds Act prohibits receiving political funds in ways not prescribed by law and provides for penalties for violations. If a fine of 1 million won or more is finalized for violating the Political Funds Act, it results in the loss of a parliamentary seat.
