The sentencing hearing for Kim Keon-hee, spouse of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, who was indicted over allegations including stock manipulation involving Deutsch Motors and receiving money and valuables from the Unification Church, was held on the 28th.
The 27th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (presiding judge Woo In-seong) held a sentencing hearing at 2:10 p.m. for Kim, who was brought to trial on charges of violating the Financial Investment Services and Capital Markets Act and the Political Funds Act, and of mediating bribery under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
Kim appeared in court wearing a black suit. Entering the courtroom, Kim sat down without a word and stared ahead with a weary expression, and did not engage in any notable conversation with the defense attorneys.
Earlier, at the closing arguments on the 28th, special counsel team led by Min Joong-ki asked the court to sentence Kim to a total of 15 years in prison.
The sentencing hearing is being broadcast live on TV and YouTube.
