The Seoul Central District Court said on the 26th that it assigned Director General Judges Nam Se-jin and Lee Jung-jae as temporary judges in charge of warrants for insurrection through Feb. 22.
The chief judge of the Seoul Central District Court, in line with the work allocation approved at the full judges' meeting, on this day assigned the two judges as judges in charge of warrants under the Act on Special Cases Concerning Criminal Procedure for crimes such as insurrection, treason, and rebellion (insurrection warrant judge).
Director General Judge Nam and Director General Judge Lee will temporarily perform duties as insurrection warrant judges until the regular judicial work allocation on Feb. 22.
After the regular work allocation, the court plans to newly designate two insurrection warrant judges from among judges who meet all requirements of 14 to 25 years of legal experience and at least 10 years on the bench.
Earlier, on the 19th, the court held a full judges' meeting and approved the criteria for forming insurrection warrant judges. After that, the Seoul Central District Court's work allocation meeting prepared a work allocation plan related to temporary insurrection warrant judges, and the agenda was approved at the full judges' meeting. The court said it will hold a full judges' meeting at 2 p.m. on Feb. 9.
