A man in his 50s who smashed a payment terminal at an unmanned store in Incheon and fled with cash has been arrested by police.
The Incheon Michuhol Police Station said on the 26th that it urgently arrested a man in his 50s, identified as A, on suspicion of theft and is investigating.
A is suspected of smashing a payment terminal at an unmanned ice cream store in Yonghyeon-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon, at around 4 p.m. the previous day and fleeing after stealing 1 million won in cash.
After receiving a report from the victimized owner, police conducted patrols and door-to-door inquiries in the area and apprehended A at around 1 a.m. that day, about nine hours later. At the time of arrest, A was confirmed not to be carrying the stolen cash.
Police identified A as a habitual offender with a total of 74 prior convictions, including theft and assault.
Police plan to question A about the exact circumstances of the crime and any additional offenses, then consider whether to seek an arrest warrant.
