Seocho District in Seoul said on the 25th that it will operate an artificial intelligence (AI)-based intelligent unmanned parking enforcement system to resolve resident inconveniences caused by illegal parking in resident-priority parking spaces.
When illegal parking occurs, the system recognizes license plates in real time, immediately issues voice and beacon warnings, and guides drivers to move to shared parking spaces.
If the vehicle does not move even after guidance, follow-up administrative measures will be taken, including imposing an illegal parking fee and forcibly towing the vehicle.
It will operate at a total of 72 resident-priority parking spaces where illegal parking occurs frequently, including 13 spaces in Section 3 of Seocho-dong and 59 spaces in Section 4 of Bangbae-dong. The district said it plans to expand installations later after analyzing the system's effectiveness.
District Chief Jeon Seong-su said, "We hope to guarantee residents' valuable parking rights through smart parking administration using AI technology."
